The Initiatic Path in the Arcana of the Tarot and Kabala

PROLOGUE

The Kabala is lost in the night of the centuries, there where the Universe was gestated in the womb of Maha Kundalini, the Great Mother.  The Kabala is the science of numbers.

The author of the Tarot was the angel Metraton [1], who is the head of the wisdom of the Serpent and was the prophet Enoch of whom the Bible tells us.

Angel Metraton or Enoch left us the Tarot, in which all of the Divine Wisdom is contained; this was written in stone.  He also left to us the 22 letters of the Hebraic alphabet.  This great Master lives in the higher worlds, in the world of Atziluth, a world of inconceivable happiness, the Region of Kether according to the Kabala, a very high Sephira.

All Kabalists are based in the Tarot, and it is necessary to know it and study it in depth.  The Universe is made with the Law of Numbers, Weights and Measures.  Mathematics forms the Universe, and the Numbers become living entities.

Whoever enters Chesed, world of the Spirit, pure and ineffable, can verify that in that region everything comes down to numbers; it is a region that is tremendously real.  In this physical world we don’t see things as they are, but we see the images of things.  In Chesed one knows how many atoms a table has, how much Karma the world owes, how many molecules live in each body.  It is a world of Mathematics, a realist world.  In this physical world one might think that in Chesed we are going to be removed from the reality of the world, and yet there, one is living in reality.  In a temple in Chesed one knows how many people there are self-realized and how many are not.  If we go into a kitchen there, we know how many atoms are in the food we’re going to eat.  It is a world that is tremendously real.

One night when I was in the world of Chesed, I entered a theater where Karmas were being balanced out, and on a screen—which is the screen of creation—one could see how the Masters of Karma were moving and on a great scale they placed the Karmas of the two greatest world powers, one on each plate.  The balance was inclined against the Colossus of the North; it owes a great Karma, it is in decline, and it will fall stricken, because what it owes must be paid in some way.

The Theosophists speak of planes and subplanes, and these are the ten Sephiroth, ten Emanations of the Eternal Mother Space, ten Waves that serve as Foundation to the Great Mother.

The seven planets of the solar system are the seven Sephiroth, and the triune Spiritual Sun is the Sephirothic Crown.  These Sephiroth live and breathe in our own consciousness and we have to learn to use and combine them in the marvelous laboratory of our Inner Universe.  Thanks to the Sephiroth one can become a true human being.  There are also masculine Sephiroth and feminine Sephiroth, just as there are positive ions and negative ions.

We need to realize those ten Sephiroth because they are here, with us here and now.  Those ten Sephiroth realized in an individual turn that individual into a Self-realized person.  They resemble inlaid precious gems; it’s something marvelous.

The Sephirothic Crown is formed by Kether, Chokmah and Binah.  It is necessary to comprehend the foundation of these three Sephiroth.

The Father; First Logos; Kether; Wisdom

The Son; Second Logos; Chokmah; Love

The Holy Spirit; Third Logos; Binah; Power; Blazing, Igneous Principle

KETHER is the Ancient of Days, the Concealed of the Concealed, the Good of the Good.  He has 31 locks of hair and his beard has thirteen parts.  The 13 symbolizes the Verb, the Word.  Wondrous things have been spoken about Him.  One may have an audience with Him through samadhi (ecstasy) in order to receive his instructions.  He is infinite Mercy and complete Wisdom.

CHOKMAH is the Christ, is Love.  The Christ awaits for the disciple to one day work in the Ninth Sphere and He prepares the disciple with infinite love.  The Instructor of the World is Love.

BINAH is the Holy Spirit, Fiery Power.  A Hierophant had to cure a mentally ill woman, and he succeeded in doing so.  The Hierophant asked the woman’s family for payment for his services.  Later on, the Hierophant had a meeting with the Holy Spirit, who took the form of a white dove.  The Hierophant asked if he [the Hierophant] was doing well, and the Holy Spirit answered that he was doing badly.  “I am the one that cures,” said the Holy Spirit.  In light of this the Master had to give back the money.  If one has the Power of Healing and charges money, then one commits a serious offense.

In the internal worlds they speak Kabala a great deal.  It is necessary to know how to make additions in Kabalistic numbers.  If someone puts the question “How long will I live?” to a Master, the Master will answer in numbers.

The object of studying the Kabala is to make ourselves capable in the higher worlds.  For example, an Initiate once asked for clairvoyance and they answered him internally that he would become so in 8 days.  Someone who doesn’t know would return to the physical body and think that within 8 days—if today is Wednesday for example, then next Wednesday—he will be clairvoyant.  In reality, 8 is the number of Job and they were telling the Initiate to have patience.  Those who don’t know are left confused in the internal worlds.  The Kabala is fundamental for understanding the language of those worlds.

[1]  In non-English languages, the spelling of the name used here--“Metraton”--is more common.  In English sources the name is usually spelled “Metatron”.  In English translatiions of Samael Aun Weor’s works, including this one, his spelling is usually kept.
