The Cardias

The cardias is the magnetic center of the heart.

The cardias is the magnetic center related to astral travels.  Those who want to conquer the power of coming out in their astral body at will must completely change their type of vibration.  This is only possible by developing the cardias.

(Samael Aun Weor)

Introduction

The cardias is the magnetic center of the heart.  This center is wonderfully described in verses 22 to 27 of the Sat-Chakra-Nirupana. Let’s look:

The Heart Lotus is of the colour of the Bandhuka flower, and on its twelve petals are the letters Ka to Tha, with the Bindu above them, of the colour of vermilion. In its pericarp is the hexagonal Vayu-Mandala, of a smoky colour, and above it Surya-Mandala, with the Trikona lustrous as ten million flashes of lightning within it. Above it the Vayu-Bija, of a smoky hue, is seated on a black antelope, four-armed and carrying the goad (Ankusha). In his (Vayu-Bija’s) lap is three-eyed Isha. Like Hamsa (Hamsabha), His two arms extended in the gestures of granting boons and dispelling fear. In the pericarp of this Lotus, seated on a red lotus, is the Shakti Kakini. She is four-armed, and carries the noose (Pasha), the skull (Kapala), and makes the boon (Vara) and fear-dispelling (Abhaya) signs. She is of a golden hue, is dressed in yellow raiment, and wears every variety of jewel and a garland of bones. Her heart is softened by nectar. In the middle of the Trikona is Shiva in the form of a Bana-Linga, with the crescent moon and Bindu on his head. He is of a golden colour.

He looks joyous with a rush of desire. Below him is the Jivatma like Hamsa. It is like the steady tapering flame of a lamp.  Below the pericarp of this Lotus is the red lotus of eight petals, with its head upturned. It is in this (red) lotus that there are the Kalpa Tree, the jewelled altar surmounted by an awning and decorated by flags and the like, which is the place of mental worship.

   (Avalon)

The Hindustani description of this chakra is marvelous.  It mentions the number of petals; the principle of Air (Vayu); Shiva, the sexual force, with His lingam and half-moon; etc., etc., showing the heart as the altar of mental worship, the marvelous center of meditation.  On this transcribed paragraph alone many books could be written.

The cardias is the magnetic center related to astral travels. Those who want to conquer the power of coming out in their astral body at will must completely change their type of vibration. This is possible only by developing the cardias.

Going out in the astral is quite emotive and feeling-based.  The cold intellect has nothing to do with travels in the astral body.  The brain is lunar.  The heart is solar.

To come out in the astral body at will, higher emotion is needed; certain kind of emotiveness, feeling, a very special supersensibility, and sleep combined with meditation.  These qualities are only achieved with the development of the cardias.

The Shiva Samhita, speaking about the cardias, says that the yogi:

gets immeasurable knowledge, knows the past, present and future; has clairaudience, clairvoyance and can walk in the air, whenever he likes.

He sees the adepts, and the goddesses known as Yoginis; obtains the power known as Khechari, and conquers the creatures which move in the air.

He who contemplates daily on the hidden Banalinga undoubtedly obtains the psychic powers called Khechari (moving in the air) and Bhuchari (going at will all over the world).

(from Samael Aun Weor, El Matrimonio Perfecto, ch. 23)

Practice

1.  The devotees should concentrate on their heart, imagining there thunder and lightning, and flying clouds lost in the twilight, driven by strong hurricane winds.

2.  The Gnostic practitioners will imagine many flying eagles in that infinite space inside, deep inside their hearts.  Imagine the deep forests of nature, full of sun and life; the singing of birds and the sweet and peaceful chirruping of the forest crickets.  The disciple should fall asleep imagining all of this.

3.  Now imagine that in the forest there is a throne of gold upon which sits the goddess Kakini, a very divine woman.  The Gnostic practitioner falls asleep meditating on all of this, imagining all of this.

Commentary:  Practice one hour daily, and if you practice two or three hours a day, all the better.  You can practice seated in a comfortable seat, or lying on the floor or in your bed with your arms and legs opened to the right and left in the form of a five-pointed star.  The sleep and meditation must be combined.

You must have a tremendous amount of patience.  With infinite patience you will achieve these marvelous powers of the cardias.  The impatient, those who want everything quickly, those who don’t know how to persevere their whole lives, would be better off withdrawing because they’ll be useless.  Powers are not attained by playing around.  Everything has a price.  Nothing is given to us as a gift.

(from Samael Aun Weor, El Matrimonio Perfecto, ch. 23)

Afterword

The Temple of the Serpent Bird.  The heart is the temple of the Serpent Bird.  We need to know how to love.  The Serpent Bird officiates in the temple of the tranquil heart.  Those who are devoured by the Serpent in fact become Serpent Birds.  It is only with Sexual Magic and the love from the heart that the Serpent awakens and then devours us.  When the Serpent reaches the height of the heart it receives its fiery wings.  Then it becomes a Serpent Bird.

It is urgent to know how to live married life.  Fighting between spouses comes from Satan, who struggles against the Serpent Bird, and wants to damage the Great Work.  We must understand the need to tolerate the defects of our wife or husband, because no one is perfect.  The work in Vulcan’s Fiery Forge is worth more than all the married couple’s defects put together.  It is foolishness to throw away all of our work just to give Satan his satisfaction.  The temple of the Feathered Serpent is in the heart, and we should not profane it by sinning against Love.  The Path of the Perfect Marriage is Wisdom and Love.

We must love consciously.  We should adore our worst enemies, returning good for evil.  In this way, knowing how to love, we are preparing ourselves for the feast of the tranquil heart.

Hermes Trismegistus said… “I give you Love, in which is the whole summa of Wisdom.

(from Samael Aun Weor, El Matrimonio Perfecto, ch. 23)
