An Esoteric Treatise of Hermetic Astrology

ARIES

There are four possible states of consciousness for human beings: sleep, waking consciousness, self-consciousness and objective consciousness.

Imagine for a moment, dear reader, a four-story house. The poor intellectual animal, mistakenly called “man”, normally lives on the two lower floors, but never in his life does he use the two higher floors. The intellectual animal divides his poor, painful life between ordinary sleep and the badly named waking state, which is unfortunately another kind of sleep.

While the physical body sleeps in the bed, the ego, wrapped in its lunar bodies, walks around like a sleepwalker with the consciousness asleep, moving freely through the molecular region.

In the molecular region the ego projects dreams and lives in them. There is no kind of logic among its dreams. Continuity, causes, effects, all of the psychic functions work without any kind of direction, and subjective images and incoherent, vague, imprecise, scenes appear and disappear.

When the ego, wrapped in its lunar bodies, returns to the physical body, then comes the second state of consciousness, called waking, which in essence is nothing more than another kind of sleep.

When returning to the physical body, dreams continue in the interior. The so-called waking state is really waking sleep.

When the sun comes out the stars are hidden but they do not cease to exist. That’s how dreams are in the waking state, they secretly continue, they do not cease to exist. This means that the intellectual animal, mistakenly called man lives only in the world of dreams. With good reason the poet said that life is a dream.

The rational animal drives cars dreaming, works in the factory, in the office, in the fields, etc., dreaming, falls in love in dreams and gets married in dreams. Rarely, very rarely in life is he awake; he lives in a world of dreams and firmly believes that he is awake.

The four Gospels demand awakening, but unfortunately they do not say how to awaken.

Above all it is necessary to comprehend that one is asleep. Only when one fully realizes that they are asleep do they really enter the path of awakening.

Those who arrive at awakening then become self-conscious, they acquire consciousness of themselves.

The gravest mistake of many unknowing pseudo-esotericists and pseudo-occultists is that of presuming themselves to be self-conscious and in addition to this believing that everyone is awake, that all people possess self-consciousness.

If all people had the consciousness awakened the Earth would be a paradise, there would be no wars, “mine” and “yours” wouldn’t exist, everything would belong to everyone; we would live in a golden age.

When one awakens consciousness, when one becomes self-conscious, when one acquires consciousness of oneself, it is then that one really comes to know the truth about oneself.

Before achieving the third state of consciousness (self-consciousness), we really don’t know ourselves, even though we think we do.

It is indispensable to acquire the third state of consciousness, to climb to the third floor of the house, before having the right to go to the fourth floor.

The fourth state of consciousness, the fourth floor of the house, is really tremendous.  Only those who reach objective consciousness, the fourth state, can study things-in-themselves, the world just as it is.

Those who reach the fourth floor of the house are, without any doubt, enlightened; they know through experience the mysteries of life and death; they possess wisdom; their spatial sense is fully developed.

During deep sleep we can have flashes of the waking state.  During the waking state we can have flashes of self-consciousness.  During the state of self-consciousness we can have flashes of objective consciousness.

If we want to reach the awakening of the consciousness, self-consciousness, we have to work with the consciousness here and now.  It is precisely here, in this physical world, that we must work in order to awaken consciousness.  Whoever awakens here awakens everywhere, in all the dimensions of the universe.

The human organism is a living zodiac and the consciousness is deeply asleep in each one of its twelve constellations.

It is urgent to awaken the consciousness in each one of the twelve parts of the human organism and this is what the zodiacal exercises are for.

Aries governs the head; Taurus, the throat; Gemini, the arms, legs and lungs; Cancer, the thymus gland; Leo, the heart; Virgo the belly, the intestines; Libra, the kidneys; Scorpio, the sexual organs; Sagittarius, the great femoral arteries; Capricorn, the knees; Aquarius, the calves; and Pisces, the feet.

It is really lamentable that this living zodiac of the human microcosm sleeps so deeply.  It becomes indispensable to achieve, on the basis of tremendous super-efforts, the awakening of the consciousness in each one of our twelve zodiacal signs.

Light and consciousness are two phenomena of one same thing.  The lesser the degree of consciousness, the lesser the degree of light; the greater the degree of consciousness, the greater the degree of light.

We need to awaken the consciousness in order to make each one of the twelve parts of our own microcosmic zodiac shine.  Our whole zodiac should become light and splendor.

PRACTICE

The work with our own zodiac begins precisely with Aries.  The disciples sit in a comfortable seat with the mind still and silent, empty of all types of thoughts.

The devotees close their eyes so that nothing of the world distracts them.  They imagine that the pure light of Aries floods the brain, staying in this state of meditation as long as they want and then chanting the powerful mantra AUM, opening the mouth well with the A, rounding it with the U and closing it with the M.  The vowel A attracts the forces of the Father, the vowel U attracts the forces of the Son and the vowel M attracts the forces of the Holy Spirit.  AUM is a powerful Logoic mantra.

The devotees should chant this powerful mantra four times during each Aries practice, and then standing facing east, they will extend the right arm in front of them, moving the head seven times forward, seven times backward, seven turning it to the right and seven turning it to the left, with the intention that the light of Aries work within the brain awakening the pineal and pituitary glands, which give us the perception of the higher dimensions of space.

It is urgent that the light of Aries be developed in our brain, awakening consciousness, developing the secret powers contained in the pituitary and pineal glands.

Aries is the symbol of RA, Rama, the lamb.  The powerful mantra RA, properly chanted, makes the spinal fires and the seven magnetic centers of the dorsal spine vibrate.

Hitler, who was a native of Aries, utilized this type of energy in a destructive way, however we must recognize that before commiting the madness of launching humanity into the Second World War, he used the energy of Aries in a constructive way, raising the standard of living of the German people.

We have been able to verify through direct experience that the natives of Aries argue a great deal with their spouses.

The natives of Aries have a marked tendency to get into arguments; they are very quarrelsome by nature.

The natives of Aries feel themselves to be capable of embarking on great enterprises and bringing them to a successful conclusion.

There exists in the natives of Aries the grave defect of wanting to always use the willpower in an egotistical, Hitler-style, antisocial and destructive way.

The natives of Aries like the independent life, but many of them prefer the military, and in the military there is no independence.

Pride, self-confidence, ambition and a truly crazy valor prevail in the Arian character.

The metal of Aries is iron, the stone is ruby, the color is red and the element is fire.

Natives of Aries make good marriages with people of Libra because fire and air comprehend each other very well.

If the natives of Aries want to be happy in marriage, they must put an end to the defect of anger.
